Mariner founders Bob Justason, Gerry Pond, and Curtis Howe in 2017 celebrating Gerry’s EY Atlantic Lifetime Achievement Award.
SAINT JOHN – 20 years ago Gerry Pond, Curtis Howe and Bob Justason set about a mission to impact the prosperity of Atlantic Canada through technology innovation. From the outset, they had a clear vision of the kind of organization they wanted to build, even as market offerings were still in development. Mariner’s purpose has always been to be a great, everlasting technology company for people who make an impact.
“What inspired us from the beginning was to develop a high-performance, innovative company and become a great place to work by creating opportunities for talented people to imagine a difference and enable change that matters for our customers, and community,” says Mariner CEO Curtis Howe.
Since 2003, the company has grown to become Atlantic Canada’s largest privately held IT consultancy with over 350 employees and annual revenue approaching $50 million. In addition to their robust suite of service offerings, Mariner’s technology innovation includes the development of software solutions used by leading telecommunications companies worldwide, as well as major North American commercial real estate like office towers, hospitals, and entertainment venues.
Regional economic development is at the core of Mariner’s corporate social responsibility, this is radiated through East Valley Ventures. Since its inception, East Valley has helped entrepreneurial founders build almost 50 companies through investment, mentorship, and coaching.
Mariner’s chairman of the board Gerry Pond declared, “Our vision was always to build for the long term, make a difference in our communities and to control our destiny from here in Atlantic Canada.”
In celebration of the milestone, Mariner reaffirms its founding purpose to play a leading role in driving innovation and economic growth in the region.
Mariner kicked off a year-long celebration on January 27th with a Founders Fireside Chat for its employees and unveiled a commemorative logo. Plans are in the works for many activities for employees, customers, and the communities they serve. Stay tuned for more announcements about upcoming events!
